Leicester City Academy graduate Josh Knight’s excellent form for the Club’s Development Squad in December has been rewarded with the Premier League 2 Player of the Month prize.

- Josh Knight has been named as December's Premier League 2 Player of the Month
- The Academy graduate starred in both victories over Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea
- Knight has been with the Club since the age of eight
- Leicester City's Development Squad are currently second in Premier League 2

The 21-year-old defender starred in both of City’s victories over Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea in December, scoring the only goal of a 1-0 success over the Seagulls at the beginning of the month.

Knight staved off competition from Tyreece John-Jules of Arsenal, Brighton’s Aaron Connolly, Manchester City forward Rabbi Matondo and West Ham United’s Moses Makasi.

A key figure for the Club’s Under-23s outfit, Knight has become renowned for his tough-tackling exploits in defence and his marauding runs into midfield this season.

The Fleckney-based defender has been with the Club since the age of eight after playing locally in the Harborough district in the south of Leicestershire.

He also emerged from the bench during the First Team's 4-1 Carabao Cup victory in the 2017/18 season at Sheffield United.

It's not just me, it's down to the team, and we're really happy with how the season is going. It was great to get a goal at Brighton, but also keeping a clean sheet is what it's about.

Speaking following confirmation of the prize, Knight said: "I'm really proud of this achievement because I've felt like I've played well in the last few games.

"It's not just me, it's down to the team, and we're really happy with how the season is going. It was great to get a goal at Brighton, but also keeping a clean sheet is what it's about.

"It's always nice to try new things with your game and the coaches have been encouraging me to get forward a little bit more which has been a great experience as well."
