Players reach this phase either through the Academy Pathway or, initially, through open trials. Qualification is based on football and academic criteria.

Since its formation last year, the LCFC Women Academy has seen four players make their first team debuts for the Foxes, as well as enjoying success in league and cup competitions, most notably winning the FA WSL Academy League Plate in April 2022.
The Under-21s team compete in the WSL Academy League, coached by Academy Lead, Louis Sowe. There is a comprehensive games programme across the season, alongside full-time training, which features four on-pitch sessions each week.
As a Dual Careers Pathway with education provider Loughborough College, the system provides players with the opportunity to study a range of subjects in BTEC courses and A-Levels, as well as degrees.
The academic timetable is designed to work alongside football commitments, with accommodation provided onsite at Loughborough College, if required.
Logistical support to transport players to and from training and games is also available, while highly skilled and experienced coaches and support staff are on hand to assist.
