Fofana’s debut season as a pro
The centre-back contests his first full season as a professional having spent five years at Saint-Étienne. In 2019/20, he makes 20 appearances in all competitions as Sainté retain their Ligue 1 status under former Leicester City manager Claude Puel.

Fofana makes his second appearance in the UEFA Europa League against Belgian side K.A.A. Gent having made his European bow versus Ukrainian outfit FC Oleksandriya three weeks earlier.

A maiden senior goal
A 4-1 drubbing of OGC Nice sees Fofana score his first goal as a professional, and Saint-Étienne’s fourth of the evening, following earlier strikes from Denis Bouanga (2) and Romain Hamouma.

A crucial win
It proved to be a vital win in their bid for survival against a Nice side that went on to finish fifth in the division. Puel’s side, meanwhile, finished seven points above the drop zone after the season was suspended indefinitely due to COVID-19.

Sainté’s cup run
Fofana and Saint-Étienne’s run to the Coupe de France final ended in heartbreak as 14th-minute effort from Neymar settled the tie. The centre-back played 90 minutes against Paris-Saint Germain at the Stade de France.

Starting 2020/21 positively
A 2-0 success against Lorient – Saint-Étienne and Fofana’s first match of 2020/21 – came after a brace from Hamouma at Geoffroy Stadium. It was the first of four Ligue 1 outings for Fofana before his move to Leicester City.

Puel’s side make it two wins from two with a 2-0 victory over Strasbourg with the help of Fofana, who plays from start to finish during the 12 September encounter.

A final win for Saint-Étienne
Fofana’s last triumph as a Saint-Étienne star came in a 2-0 success at Olympique de Marseille. Hamouma and Bouanga are both on target against André Villas-Boas’ side at the Orange Vélodrome.

Joining the Foxes
The 19-year-old signs a five-year deal at King Power Stadium and joins the Foxes on 2 October, 2020.
