Following Saturday’s disappointing defeat by Crystal Palace, First Team Coaches Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler are set to assume responsibility for the senior squad against the Seagulls.

While Leicester’s recent results have been the source of frustration for the Club’s players, Evans insists that the quality of their build-up play is something which bodes well.

“I think we’ve played against some tough sides lately and the game the other day, we were playing some nice football but we didn’t hurt Palace as much as we’d have liked,” the Northern Ireland defender said.

Anyone looking at us will see that we are a good team, we’ve got young players here, it’s a very young squad with some very talented players so I’m sure anyone who comes in will be delighted.

“They caught us on the counter-attack a few times and they punished us for that.

“When you play against three sides in the top-six, and play well against them, maybe we got into a false sense of security.

“If you look at our play, I don’t think anyone can say that we’re not playing with confidence or that we look disjointed, we’ve got some great build-up play.

“The hardest part of football is trying to break a team down who are sitting on the edge of the box waiting to counter you.

Training Special: Brighton

Watch as the lads continue their preparations ahead of Tuesday night's Premier League game against Brighton.

“We have to find a way to do that because we’re dominating teams with a lot of possession, especially at home.

“Teams tend to sit off us with [Jamie] Vardy up front, they don’t want to leave much space behind, so that’s a big challenge for us over the games to come.”

Evans, 31, also believes that the youth in City’s squad is another reason to be optimistic for the future with young talent combining well with the Club’s more senior players.

He added: “There’s so many different ways to play football and games can pan out in different ways that you may not expect so you’ve got to be prepared either way.

“Anyone looking at us will see that we are a good team, we’ve got young players here, it’s a very young squad with some very talented players so I’m sure anyone who comes in will be delighted.”
