Demarai Gray opened the scoring for City after 10 minutes on Filbert Way before Jamie Vardy struck just after the hour-mark to ensure Davy Pröpper’s strike was a mere consolation.
With new manager Rodgers, confirmed before kick-off, watching from the stands, it is a result which means the Foxes end a frustrating run of matches without success.
Speaking to LCFC TV at full-time, Maguire reflected on the appointment of the former Liverpool and Celtic manager, saying: “It shows great ambition from the Club.

“Straight away, no hanging about, one that all the lads in there are all looking forward to.
“We’ve got a young squad here and he brings through a lot of young players so it’s a perfect fit and like I said, from me and the boys, we’re really looking forward to it so let’s crack on.”
Reflecting on the game, the 25-year-old admits that it felt like an important result in the context of City’s season as they look to return to the top half of the Premier League.
“It’s a really important three points,” he added. "We really needed it, we weren’t looking for the performance, the result was the main thing and we managed to get that.

“It’s been really annoying and frustrating of late. We feel like we’re doing well in games, we’re in control of the game and then all of a sudden we find ourselves a goal down.
“But tonight we started the game well and deservedly took the lead.
“We should have really punished them in the first half and took our chances where we were opening them up and obviously then they scored to make it 2-1.
“It was a nervy end and a scrappy second half performance from ourselves with chances at both ends really. It was a really important three points.”
