The Foxes overcame their Sky Bet League 2 opposition courtesy of second half goals from Harry Maguire, Kelechi Iheanacho and Academy graduate Hamza Choudhury

Perhaps most pleasing for Rodgers and his management team, however, was their side's dedication to a high-press stratagem in temperatures exceeding 28 degrees.

Mendy, 27, starred for 45 minutes and was pleased to see the latest phase of Leicester's pre-season development go to plan in their third friendly fixture of the summer.

It was very difficult as well because the weather is a little bit too hot but we tried to play and to have success to find the goal.

"It was very good for us because we had a clean sheet today and we scored three goals," the Frenchman told LCFC TV at full-time.

"It’s a success to score three goals but for the team, we played well with the ball. It was a good exercise today.

"It was very difficult as well because the weather is a little bit too hot but we tried to play and to have success to find the goal."

Mendy also congratulated his team-mates who featured in the second half as the Foxes turned the screw and became too much for their hosts.

"We didn’t have that success [in the first half] but in the second half we played better and we found a way to score goals," he added.

"In a good way, step by step we are getting fitter. I think the next game will be better for the fitness but we have a little bit more of a connection together and that’s fine for the future.

"It’s nice to see the [England Under-21s] lads return because they are good lads and good footballers. We’ll need all the players to make a good season this season."
