Pérez Expects Burnley Battle
- Ayoze Pérez says Leicester City are aiming to maintain their momentum with a win against Burnley on Saturday (3pm kick-off)
- Pérez was twice victorious against the Clarets while at Newcastle last term
- The Spaniard believes City must continue to grow as a team
After the second international break of the campaign, the Club’s stars began their preparations to contest their ninth outing of the Premier League campaign, having accumulated 14 points from eight matches.
And that preparation, Pérez believes, will be vital should his side retain their position in the Premier League’s top four after the latest round of fixtures.
“It’s going to be a tough game,” said Pérez ahead of Saturday’s match. “They are a very tough team to play against. They exploit the way they play.
“Obviously, we are at home and we know that we need the three points to keep this momentum.
Rodgers: Prepare For All Eventualities
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers looked ahead to Saturday's clash with Burnley during his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“It’s going to be tough. We have to be ready for it, because it’s going to be a working battle.”
With Newcastle United during the 2018/19 season, Pérez was victorious on two occasions in the Premier League, citing those six points as crucial as the Magpies set about securing their top-flight status.
“It was one of those games where you had to win when you play against teams in your own league, let’s say,” reflected Pérez.
“We knew those six points were going to give us a lot of distance to the other teams, but it was a tough game at home and away. It’s always a tough game to play against these types of teams.”
We know we can fight for something special, but as I said, we have to grow game by game, because otherwise, we will make a mistake.
Ayoze Pérez
After making the move from St. James’ Park to King Power Stadium in the summer, Pérez has enjoyed the dominant nature of City’s performances in the Premier League.
“We are on the opposite side where we are dominating the games,” he added. “You are trying to have the ball as much as possible, to create a lot of chances and to score as many goals as you can.
“It’s a great feeling in terms of that, it’s very enjoyable. We have to keep the winning mentality, like the top teams do.
