Vardy: We'll Knuckle Down Now

The Foxes are currently second in the Premier League table following five successive victories in all competitions, while Vardy is the top flight's top scorer on 11.

However, the 32-year-old, who scored Leicester's first before James Maddison added another, insists that City are remaining grounded ahead of third international break of the 2019/20. 

"There’s a long way to go so we’ll look forward to a few days off with it being an international break and the we’ll come back firing for the game after it," he said at full-time.

"I’m always willing to learn, I’m doing tactics with the gaffer, I’m always there trying to give 100 per cent and it’s paying dividends for myself.

"The creativity we’ve got in the side and the attacking players we have is only going to benefit the team and we’ve got another two goals today so we’ll make sure we’re ready for the next one.

"We take each game as it comes, it’s a long slog, especially when it comes to December, there’s lots of fixtures coming up, so we’ll keep working hard.

"There’s a lot of momentum around the Club and I think you can see from the way we’re playing that everyone’s enjoying themselves, but that enjoyment comes with winning.

"We’ll knuckle down, keep going, look forward to the next game and come the end of the season, we’ll see where we finish."

Vardy says Leicester were under no illusions about the task they would face against Unai Emery's men, but he believes the momentum shifted in City's favour in the second half.

"We knew it was going to be tough, there was chances for both teams, I missed one in the first half, and they missed a couple," he continued.

"Obviously, VAR has disallowed one of their goals, but after that, we really came out on top and, as soon as that first goal went in, the momentum was with us and we got another one.

"We knew it was going to be difficult. The manager said before the game it was going to be about patience and we needed to keep working it.

"We knew from their formation, it was split strikers, so it was going to be hard for us to get the ball to our full-backs, so it took patience, but we managed to get the ball out wide.

"We utilised that space and then we got two goals. I’m playing, with my conversion rate, probably the best that I ever have, but we’ve got to keep going."
