Pérez: We Keep Pushing
- Ayoze Pérez believes there is ‘a long way to go’ for Leicester City this season
- The Spaniard spoke to LCFC TV after scoring in the Foxes’ 2-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion
- Pérez has now scored four goals for Brendan Rodgers’ outfit
The Spaniard’s fourth Premier League strike in Foxes colours came just after the hour mark, while Jamie Vardy, who set up Pérez for the opener, scored a penalty to seal all three points for the visiting side.
Pleased to emerge from a tricky trip to the south coast with another win, Pérez believes the triumph was evidence of City’s strength this season.
Pérez told LCFC TV: “It was a very important win for us. We knew it was going to be a tough game. [It's a] tough, tough place to come and play, they play quite well at home, so it shows how good we are doing, how good we are playing and how strong we are.
Pérez Hails Important Win
Ayoze Pérez was delighted to come away from a tough afternoon at the AMEX Stadium with three points.
“It feels really, really good. We keep pushing. Another three points, [a] clean sheet and two goals, so I think it's a very, very, very positive afternoon for us. [I was] happy to score again thanks to Jamie's assist so it's a great afternoon for us.
“We had a couple of counter-attacks where we could have scored before my goal but we took that chance, we knew we were going to have the chance with the speed that we've got up front.
“So, we did well in terms of the counter-attack and then we could manage a little bit more of the game and we also won that penalty. So, [it was a] great result and overall we have to be very happy.”
This doesn't stop. Now is a busy time, in December, Christmas, we all know what it's about, so we need to keep pushing and keep getting points.

Vardy, the Premier League’s top scorer with 12 goals in 2019/20, unselfishly set up Pérez for the opening goal, before adding a second with eight minutes to play from the spot.
“I was in a great position, he did well passing me the ball and yes, it was quite easy,” he added. “The ‘keeper came to close me down quite quick, it wasn't so easy but it's still good to be in that situation.
“[I’m] happy to score thanks to him and we keep going. This doesn't stop. Now is a busy time, in December, Christmas, we all know what it's about, so we need to keep pushing and keep getting points.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling, [we’re in] a great mood. Everyone is enjoying themselves with some music on, it's so good to be involved in that kind of environment. So, it's really, really good, the lads deserve it but this is not done, there's still a long way to go.”
