Central midfielder Thomas, 22, joined Alan Pardew's Eredivisie side earlier this month and went straight into the starting XI on Sunday, helping his side to a 2-0 success over RKC Waalwijk.

The Wales international played the full 90 minutes at the Car Jeans Stadion as Shaquille Pinas and Aaron Meijers struck either side of half-time, while Hennes Delcroix was sent off for the visitors.

Den Haag subsequently sit 16th in the Dutch top division standings, the relegation play-off berth, one point below Zwolle, ahead of travelling to Utrecht on Friday (7pm kick-off).

Elsewhere, King also emerged from the bench for Huddersfield during a 0-0 Sky Bet Championship with Brentford at John Smith's Stadium on Saturday, leaving the Terriers 20th in the table.

The 31-year-old midfielder was an 81st-minute substitute for Danny Cowley's men, replacing Emile Smith-Rowe, and could make a first start in Tuesday's trip to Hull City (7:45pm kick-off).

Goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, meanwhile, kept another clean sheet for Rotherham United in a 3-0 success over Bristol Rovers with Kyle Vassell, Michael Smith and Chiedozie Ogbene finding the net.

Sam Hughes has now made 10 appearances in all competitions for Salford.

The Denmark youth international has made 25 Sky Bet League 1 appearances for the Millers this term, helping the Yorkshire outfit to currently hold top spot in the third tier of English football.

Paul Warne's men tackle Peterborough United at ABAX Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off) before welcoming promotion rivals Ipswich Town to New York Stadium the following Tuesday (7:45pm kick-off).

Also in the Football League, defender Sam Hughes was used from the bench by Salford City as they enjoyed a 2-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers away at the New Lawn on Saturday.

Ibou Touray opened the scoring for the visitors and, while Josh March equalised for the Green, Michael O'Connor won it for Salford, who later had both Richie Towell and Ashley Hunter dismissed.

Finally, young midfielder Kamal Sowah also started for Oud-Heverlee Leuven at King Power at Den Dreef Stadium on Sunday, but the Belgian side were defeated 3-1 by Westerlo.

OHL's Xavier Mercier levelled Christian Brüls' opener, before Gilles Dewaele and Christophe Janssens struck, leaving Leuven fifth in the Proximus League's second phase, after winning the first.

Vincent Euvrard's side next face Lokeren away at Daknamstadion on Friday and are currently only three points away from the second phase's summit, occupied at present by Westerlo.
