The Foxes striker picked up a glute injury in the 4-1 win over West Ham United last week, but returned as a substitute during Tuesday's Carabao Cup defeat at Aston Villa.

Ahead of the visit of Frank Lampard's Blues to Filbert Way, Rodgers has revealed that Vardy, 33, has been training well at Belvoir Drive and will be in contention to start.

Elsewhere, captain Wes Morgan, who picked up an issue following the Emirates FA Cup victory at Brentford last Saturday, remains unavailable for Leicester.

Rodgers: An Exciting Game For Us

Brendan Rodgers looked ahead to Saturday's clash with Chelsea, as well as providing a fitness update, during Thursday's press conference.

"We’ve still got Wes Morgan out, he’s unavailable," the Northern Irishman said. "We got a couple of minor knocks from the game in the week but it’ll be the same squad."

Rodgers was also asked to provide an update on Vardy's condition, after the Club's all-time Premier League top goalscorer played for 34 minutes at Villa Park on Tuesday evening.

"He was okay," he told the national media. "We found no side effects after the game. He's trained today and was good."

On whether Vardy could start the clash, the 47-year-old added: "Potentially."

Rodgers also outlined the importance of moving on, both mentally and physically, from Tuesday's disappointment and backed them to do just that on Filbert Way this weekend.

"No matter how low it is, you have to get on with it," he added. "It's the life of a player. If you're going to compete, you're going to have disappointments, so you have to get over them quickly.

"It's all building a great resilience in the squad. Chelsea at King Power Stadium at the weekend, it's a great game for us really, after a game like that."
