Brendan Rodgers has praised the work being conducted by Frank Lampard at Chelsea ahead of the Blues' visit to King Power Stadium on Saturday (12:30pm kick-off).

Third-placed Leicester City welcome Lampard's west London side to Filbert Way currently sitting one place and eight points above their visitors.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge back in August, with Wilfred Ndidi's header equalising Mason Mount's opener in the capital.

Following Tuesday's defeat by Aston Villa in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, meanwhile, Rodgers says it changes nothing about the significance of Saturday's fixture.

"It’s a game that was going to be an exciting game for us, whatever the result was against Aston Villa," the 47-year-old said during Thursday's press conference.

Rodgers Provides Team News Update

Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers discussed Saturday's opponents and gave an update on squad fitness ahead of Saturday's game against Chelsea.

"I think Frank’s [Lampard] done a fantastic job there. He took over a really good squad, in the Champions League and who won the Europa League.

"However they’d lost their best player, so he was going to have to come in and galvanise them.

"Everyone talks about the ban on buying players and maybe that Frank was forced to play young players, but that wasn’t the case at all.

"I think he’s showed great courage as a manager and great bravery because he could’ve played [Olivier] Giroud up front, or [Michy] Batshuayi, but he played Tammy Abraham as a young player.

Frank knows the club inside out, he’s got that connection with the supporters as well, which was always going to be important, and you can see they’ve worked very well together.

"He could’ve played Pedro, who’s an experienced player, an international player, but he’s played Mason Mount. So, he’s really given the belief to the young players.

"They’ve done very, very well and, of course, sometimes you get inconsistencies with it, but I think he and his staff have done a fantastic job. For us at the weekend, it will be a tough game."

Rodgers, who previously worked within Chelsea's academy, has been pleased to see Lampard succeed at Stamford Bridge and backed the former England midfielder to continue doing so.

"Well, he’s obviously wanted to come in and play with a more aggressive game, a bigger tempo in their game," Rodgers continued.

"They played very good football with [Maurizio] Sarri and had a good positioning game, a bit more patience.

Rodgers: An Exciting Game For Us

Brendan Rodgers looked ahead to Saturday's clash with Chelsea, as well as providing a fitness update, during Thursday's press conference.

"Frank and Jody [Morris] and Joe Edwards are all fantastic coaches, so they’ve got them playing with a really good tempo.

"They’ve given the belief to the younger players and you’ve seen them flourish with that.

"Frank knows the club inside out, he’s got that connection with the supporters as well, which was always going to be important, and you can see they’ve worked very well together.

"He’s done great since he’s gone in and he’s helped develop the young players and maybe players that didn’t think they were going to get an opportunity have played and done well under him.

"I’m pleased he’s done well. He’s a good guy, he’s very thoughtful, he knows what he wants from his teams, and he’s been able to do it at a club he loves."
