Rodgers On City's Selection Considerations At Palace

- Manager Brendan Rodgers has suggested he could make changes to his starting XI in south London
- The Foxes were unchanged against the Red Devils following a 2-0 victory at Tottenham Hotspur
- Rodgers says any players who do come into the XI will be prepared after featuring regularly this term
The Northern Irishman named an unchanged line-up for the 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Boxing Day following a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in north London on 20 December.
However, the clash with Roy Hodgson's Eagles comes just under 50 hours after the Foxes kicked off against the Red Devils, and the Leicester manager says measures will be taken to protect his players.
A total of 27 players have so far represented City in the Premier League, UEFA Europa League and Carabao Cup so far this term, with the Club's opening Emirates FA Cup tie also on the horizon.
"We’ll look at it closer, but I don’t want to risk injury," Rodgers told the media, ahead of Monday's encounter with Palace in south London, where City enjoyed a 2-0 victory last season.
The players’ health is always the most important. I’ll always pick a team that I think can get the result, and if that means changing the players, then we will do that.

"It’s 48-and-a-half hours between the games and, after the season we’ve had and everything else, I’m not prepared to put a level of risk in that means they’re going to miss six weeks to two months out.
"We’ll look at it. We’ll make changes, the number of which we’ll have to wait and see. We’ll assess the players [on Sunday] and see where they’re at.
"The players’ health is always the most important. I’ll always pick a team that I think can get the result, and if that means changing the players, then we will do that."
Last winter, Leicester made nine changes for the second outing in less than 48 hours, a 2-1 success at West Ham United, but Rodgers believes there are differences in circumstance this term.
With so many players having already played a prominent role in the 2020/21 campaign, specifically in Europe, the 47-year-old is confident that anyone who features will be well equipped for the task.

"The players who are coming in, a lot of them have been playing," he added. "Papy [Mendy] last year came in against West Ham and he’d hardly been involved in any of the squads.
"He came in and did very well. A lot of these players have been playing, they all understand the structure of how we work and I trust them.
"I want an intensity in the game. We’re a team that wants to run and give everything in the game and that might be difficult for certain players in certain positions coming off the back of [Boxing Day].
"Whichever team is picked, it’s a team to win the game."
