Devlin: Great Energy In The Team
- Charlie Devlin speaks to LCFC TV after scoring the winner in Sunday's 2-1 victory for LCFC Women at Liverpool
- A seventh consecutive league win leaves the Foxes top of the FA Women's Championship by three points
- Devlin believes City were rewarded for executing their game plan to perfection at Prenton Park
- The former Manchester United midfielder, a second-tier title-winner in 2019, also called on the side to maintain their high performance levels
The Foxes came from behind at Prenton Park, following Missy Bo Kearns' early opener for the Reds, with Natasha Flint's penalty and a superb late effort from Devlin sealing a seventh consecutive league win.
As a result, City remain top of the FA Women's Championship, leading second-placed Durham by a margin of three points, and the former Manchester United midfielder credited the visitors' spirit at full-time.
"I’m chuffed, it’s always great to get a win against Liverpool," Devlin told LCFC TV in Birkenhead. "I thought the team played excellently, we had a game plan and we executed it.
"It wasn’t the best start, but it was great that we came back and showed good team spirit to get the win, so it’s job done."
I think Tash Flint’s rubbing off on me! I just hit it, hoped for the best, and it went in. It’s great to get on the scoresheet. It was a great feeling.

Devlin's winner, nine minutes from time, was an inch-perfect strike into the bottom corner from outside the area and the 22-year-old was pleased to play her part.
"I think Tash Flint’s rubbing off on me!" she joked. "I just hit it, hoped for the best, and it went in. It’s great to get on the scoresheet. It was a great feeling.
"I enjoyed every minute of it, but at the end of the day, [I'm happy to do] anything to help the team win."
Devlin credited top goalscorer Flint for getting Leicester back in the game, with her 15th strike of the season from the penalty spot, and also highlighted the effort put in by the whole squad so far in 2021.
In the New Year, the Foxes have so far secured three consecutive wins, two in the league, against Sheffield United and Liverpool, while also reaching the last-four of the Continental Tyres League Cup at Crystal Palace.

Charlie Devlin celebrates her 81st-minute winner at Prenton Park.
"[Flint's] an important player for us, she gets important goals," Devlin added. "Obviously, that was a very important goal, going into half-time.
"From then, we got the momentum and our game plan back to where we wanted it and got the result in the end. It’s been a long week, three games, three wins.
"We knew what we were doing, everyone put a shift in, and everyone was excellent. We’ve just got to look to the next game now.
"We’ve all got high standards now. There’s great energy around the camp, so we’ve just got to keep it up."
