The 19-year-old played the full 90 minutes of City's 1-0 Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round tie with Brighton & Hove Albion at King Power Stadium on Wednesday, settled by Kelechi Iheanacho's 94th-minute winner.

After watching a side which included seven changes from the 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers book the Club's place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, Rodgers was delighted.

Asked specifically to comment on the performance of Daley-Campbell, who joined Leicester from Arsenal in 2019, Rodgers said: "I thought he was excellent, I’ve got to say.

I thought [Daley-Campbell] was excellent. He did well in the wing-back position and, with more work, he can play as a full-back as well.

"As a young boy, from when he first came in, I’ve liked him. He’s got running power and pace. He can serve the ball.

"I just think with young players, they need a chance. We wanted to give Ricky (Ricardo Pereira) a breather tonight. We’ve got a lot games coming up.

"With Timothy [Castagne] not quite ready, the last thing we wanted to do was risk him, but it’s always an opportunity for a young player.

"I said to him before the game: ‘Games like this change the course of your life, so take the opportunity’.

"I thought he was excellent. He did well in the wing-back position and, with more work, he can play as a full-back as well."

Next up for the Foxes is the Premier League visit of Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool to King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon (12:30pm GMT kick-off).

While the Reds have been in indifferent form in recent weeks, Rodgers has no doubts at all that this weekend's clash with his former side will be a serious test of Leicester's abilities.

"They’re still a top-class team and they’re still the champions," the Northern Irishman continued, speaking to LCFC TV at full-time on Wednesday.

"They’re an outstanding team, so we have to now go away, with great confidence from tonight, recover for a couple of days and then get ready for that."
