Young Leicester City striker George Hirst will join League One side Portsmouth in a loan deal until the end of the 2021/22 campaign, subject to Football League approval.

The 22-year-old striker quickly established himself as a key player for Leicester City’s Development Squad following his arrival in July 2019 and went on to make his first senior appearance for the Foxes away to Tottenham Hotspur a year later.
Hirst, who represented England from Under-17 to Under-20 level, spent the 2020/21 season on loan with Championship side Rotherham United, where he appeared 32 times in all competitions.
That development will now continue on the south coast at Portsmouth, with Danny Cowley’s side set to get their new campaign underway with a visit to Fleetwood Town on Saturday 7 August.
