Foxes Fly Out To Poland For Legia Encounter

Leicester City's players and backroom staff have left the United Kingdom bound for the capital of Poland ahead of Thursday's UEFA Europa League encounter with Legia Warsaw (5:45pm BST kick-off).
More on this story...

For the first time since April 2017, when the Foxes tackled Atlético Madrid in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, members of the Blue Army will be able to follow their side on the continent in person. Around 800 City supporters are expected to arrive in Poland's largest city this week.

Situated on the River Vistula in east-central Poland, Warsaw is the country's seat of power and offers a glimpse into European history. Nicknamed Phoenix City, after it was largely rebuilt following the Second World War, Warsaw is a stunning setting for the latest stage of Leicester's continental adventure.

On-loan winger Ademola Lookman takes his place on the squad's plane before departing for Poland.

Traveling fans will be able to sample the Old Town, entered onto the UNESCO World Heritage List, or take a boat ride across the Vistula and see how modern skyscrapers now tower above the red roofs and brick buildings synonymous with Warsaw's rich and unique back story.

Brendan Rodgers' squad, meanwhile, will take a three-hour flight and, shortly after landing, a packed itinerary awaits them. Firstly, a short coach ride to Stadion Wojska Polskiego – home of the Polish champions – will be followed by Rodgers and Harvey Barnes addressing the international media.

Then, it's time for open training, an opportunity for global broadcasters to capture City's last full training session ahead of the Group C encounter with Czesław Michniewicz's Wojskowi outfit. Later in the evening, on the other hand, there will be an opportunity for Leicester fans to speak to two Foxes stars.

Thursday, of course, is matchday as Leicester go in hunt of three points to kick-start their Europa League campaign. Don't forget to check back to LCFC.com over the coming days for more news from Warsaw, followed by live LCFC Radio commentary and in-play updates on the dedicated Match Centre
