The 63-year-old has won nine of his 20 games in charge of the Red Devils, losing three times in the process. He started life at Old Trafford with a five-game unbeaten run, which began with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in his first match.

Since his appointment, Ogden believes there has been improvements in Manchester United’s results, however there is still more work to do as Leicester City travel to the north west on Saturday evening.

Ogden told LCFC TV: “It’s been better, but it’s still been patchy. If you look at Ralf Rangnick, he’s certainly improved results. They haven’t had that run of defeats that they had under [Ole Gunnar] Solskjær in October and November time.

“While the results have been better, they haven’t really performed in terms of winning games well or being convincing.

Mark Ogden says Anthony Elanga has made an encouraging contribution to the Manchester United team this term.

“It’s a marginal improvement but it’s always difficult when you have an interim manager. He’s made improvements, there’s been people like Anthony Elanga, who’s come in and done well.”

The Red Devils are currently in pursuit of a top four berth this campaign, and Ogden says April’s clashes with Arsenal and Liverpool – who are currently fourth and second respectively – will be key to that target.

“Arsenal have a bit of a lead right now, it’s certainly in Arsenal’s hands, although United have to go to Emirates Stadium and Anfield, so it’s a difficult run for United,” he added.

“The crucial week for me is they play Liverpool on a Tuesday night at Anfield, then they go to Emirates Stadium on the Saturday, so those two games will decide whether United can pursue a top four spot or miss out.”
