Lambourne: We Worked Tremendously Hard

LCFC Women's No.1 goalkeeper, Demi Lambourne, credited her team-mates' application during the 0-0 draw with Reading Women at King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

- The point keeps City five points above the Barclays FA Women's Super League's relegation zone
- Goalkeeper Demi Lambourne was delighted to keep a clean sheet in a crunch clash
- Leicester head to north London to face Tottenham Hotspur Women next Sunday (12pm kick-off)

The point adds to City's tally in the battle to remain in the Barclays FA Women's Super League at the end of the campaign. Birmingham City Women, who have two remaining games against Manchester City Women (A) and Aston Villa Women (H), are behind Leicester by a margin of five points.

While the Foxes only have one game to go, away at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next weekend, only one side is relegated from the top tier of women's football. It's been a tough spell for LCFC Women, suffering six successive defeats, but their work earlier in the campaign, coupled with Sunday's draw, could prove to be enough.

Speaking after keeping a precious clean sheet on Filbert Way at the weekend, Lambourne praised her defensive colleagues for helping her keep Reading at bay. Both sides had opportunities in City's penultimate league fixture of the season, but they each had to settle for a point at the full-time whistle.

Lambourne: We Put In A Shift

Demi Lambourne gives her post-match assessment after keeping a clean sheet in LCFC Women's draw with Reading on Filbert Way.

"It was a great day to be involved in today," Lambourne told LCFC TV. "Fair play to the girls, we put in a shift, and we worked hard for the clean sheet. We've had a tough run of games and we wanted to come into today and get something from the game and that's what we did.

"All the girls worked tremendously hard so I'm pleased for myself and for them."

Lambourne had to be alert until the very end of a tense encounter at King Power Stadium and was thrilled to help City come away with a point.

Foxes' Resilence Pleases Bedford

Manager Lydia Bedford's reaction following a hard-fought point picked up by LCFC Women against Reading.

"You always start the game with a point," she added. "That's what our aim was to do, to keep a clean sheet. So long as you do that, you always walk away with that point and we did that today. Every goalkeeper has to be switched on and alert for anything, whether it's the first minute or the last."

A trip to north London to tackle Tottenham Hotspur Women awaits the Foxes on the final day of the season. They end the 2021/22 campaign with a 12pm kick-off at Spurs on Sunday.

"It's going to be a great experience," Lambourne continued. "Who doesn't want to play there? Hopefully we can go out and get a similar result there as well."
