'Fofana Should Be Back & Fit' – Rodgers' Pre-Watford Fitness Update
- Leicester City face Watford at Vicarage Road in the Premier League on Sunday (2pm kick-off)
- Manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Wesley Fofana may return after missing City's last outing
- The young Frenchman was out with a tight calf for that 3-0 triumph over Norwich City
- Rodgers also discussed Danny Ward and Jamie Vardy's availability for the Foxes
The Foxes face Roy Hodgson's men at Vicarage Road on Sunday for a 2pm kick-off in the Club's third-last Premier League outing of the season. Fofana, meanwhile, was absent for City in midweek with a tight calf, while Rodgers also revealed that Danny Ward is in contention as well.
"Wesley Fofana should be back and fit, as should Danny Ward," the Northern Irishman told the media inside the King Power Centre at LCFC Training Ground on Friday. "He had a wee bit of an issue, but he should be fine. Apart from that, it should be the same squad."
Jamie Vardy, on the other hand, scored twice on Wednesday – taking his league goals tally for the Club up to 150 – with two strikes which were also his first since returning from a knee injury sustained in early March. Rodgers is thrilled to have a player of that calibre back in his line-up.
To get to that age and still look as fit as [Vardy] does, it’s a real positive for how he looks after himself.
Brendan Rodgers
"He is a special player and a special person," the 49-year-old added. "Having been here three-and-half years, having that chance to work with him close up, seeing that mentality, it’s such a shame we’ve missed him. You saw his movement and speed is still there.
"When you get to 35 years of age, everyone references your age. When he’s at that level, he’s a threat at the very highest level. It’s 150 [league] goals now, which is a remarkable achievement by a brilliant player. Hopefully he can stay fit so he can play many more games.
"To have longevity as a player or manager, you need resilience and that ability to keep going. You need to look after yourself. He’s obviously blessed genetically, but he keeps himself in the right condition. To get to that age and still look as fit as he does, it’s a real positive for how he looks after himself."
