Jakupović Among Six To Depart Leicester City
- Leicester City confirms the departure of six professionals upon the expiration of their contracts this month
- Goalkeeper Eldin Jakupović leaves King Power Stadium after five seasons
- Five players from the Club’s Development Squad also set for new challenges
The 37-year-old goalkeeper joined the Foxes from Hull City in July 2017 and made his debut for the Club in an FA Cup tie at Fleetwood Town the following January. His Premier League bow came against Arsenal in May 2018, as he helped City to a 3-1 win over the Gunners on Filbert Way.
A valued and popular member of the First Team squad, Eldin has provided vital competition and helped drive high standards in the goalkeeping ranks throughout his time with the Foxes, while also lending his experience to the development of a number of young goalkeepers on the Club’s development pathway.
Also leaving the Club are Development Squad players Vontae Daley-Campbell, Callum Hulme, Will Russ, Tyrese Shade and Jacob Wakeling. The Club has activated options on the contracts of Callum Wright and Bayli Spencer-Adams.
Daley Campbell made three appearances for the First Team following his move from Arsenal in July 2019, debuting in the FA Cup against Brighton & Hove Albion in February 2021 before appearing twice last term.
Hulme, Russ, Shade and Wakeling all performed with distinction for City’s Under-23s during their time at the Club, with the latter two enjoying spells on loan at Walsall and Barrow respectively in 2021/22.
The Football Club extends its thanks to all six players for their contribution during their time with the Foxes and wishes them well in the next stages of their respective careers.
