'Spurs Still Searching For A 90-Minute Performance'
- Tottenham Hotspur host Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday (5:30pm kick-off)
- Rob Guest, from Football London, has provided his opinion on the north London side
- Antonio Conte's side are third in the Premier League with four wins from six
Spurs are third in the table, with four wins from six, drawing the other two, ahead of welcoming Leicester City to north London on Saturday (5:30pm kick-off). Conte's side suffered their first defeat of the new season in midweek, falling to a late UEFA Champions League reverse at Sporting Lisbon.
Ahead of Saturday's clash with the Foxes, Guest spoke to LCFC TV's Matchday Live show to provide his verdict on Tottenham's start.
Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs were beaten for the first time in 2022/23 in the UEFA Champions League.
"Spurs are flying high, they’re third, one point off the top and they’re unbeaten (in the league)," he said this week. "They lost for the first time on Tuesday in the Champions League, conceding two late goals against Sporting CP, but when you look at the performances, they haven’t really been there.
"When they’ve not played well, they've managed to grind out the win or a point. In terms of the Premier League, they’ve started well, although they’ll probably think that they could have a few more points on the board. They’ve got to be happy, especially when you look at how they’ve played in the games."
Guest believes it is a matter of time until Spurs deliver a 90-minute performance in the Premier League.
Harry Kane
Harry Kane has started the new season in fine form, netting five goals.
"They have played well on occasions in games, notably against Southampton for 60 minutes of the 90," he added. "They played well against Fulham as well for the majority of it. There’s still not been that 90-minute performance, but that is going to come at some stage.
"Tottenham need the reaction after Tuesday because they didn’t play particularly well. If they’d have got a point, it will have been seen as a good point away. Because they’ve conceded two late goals in stoppage time, the perception of the performance automatically changes and it's viewed as a bad one.
"I don’t think they were necessarily bad, they just weren’t good enough."
