The Northern Ireland centre-back has a 'tight calf' and will be assessed by the Club's medical team ahead of Saturday's lunchtime kick-off against the Eagles. There was more promising news, however, on Dennis Praet, Papy Mendy and Timothy Castagne.

There is no change concerning Wilfred Ndidi, who has a hamstring issue, with the Nigerian midfielder still 'a few weeks away' from his return.

"We’ve had a couple of players who haven’t trained so much," Rodgers told the national media inside the King Power Centre in Seagrave this week.

"Dennis Praet and Papy Mendy have come back in having not trained a lot during the week," the Northern Irishman said. "Apart from that, we’ll have to assess Jonny Evans before the game to see where he’s at with a tight calf, but apart from that it’s been a good training week."

Elaborating on Evans' issue, the former Liverpool and Celtic added: "Jonny has obviously been a fantastic player for me. He’s the Club captain, a great leader for the team. If he’s not ready, we’ve got other players to come in."

Castagne, on the other hand, was forced off in the 2-1 reverse at AFC Bournemouth, but Rodgers said: "He had quite a bruised eye but he'll be okay."

On Ndidi, he explained: "He’ll probably be a few weeks. When he came off, we were looking at about three weeks. We think it’ll be around that period of time from last week."
