‘A Great Result Against A Good Team’ – Nelson’s Take On Palace Draw
- Leicester City’s Development Squad drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park
- It was a valuable point on the road for the Foxes, says defender Ronny Nelson
- The centre-back was making his first Premier League 2 appearance of the season
- He hopes to be involved again against Valencia on Wednesday (7pm kick-off)
Heading into the game in a tricky patch of form, losing their last four across all competitions, the Foxes youngsters stood up to the task against the south Londoners and came away with a valuable point in their quest to rise up the Premier League 2 table.
Speaking to LCFC TV in the aftermath of the closely fought encounter with the Eagles, Nelson shared his thoughts on the occasion of playing at Selhurst Park and keeping a first shutout since late August.
“It was the perfect night,” the defender claimed. “Although we didn’t get the win, it’s a great result against a good team and at a great stadium. It was good to get the point. It’s just surreal, all the stands and everything, it’s amazing.
I’m really looking forward to Wednesday. Hopefully we can get a good result, the team wins and I can play and get more minutes under my belt.

“That’s what we were working on - to get better defensively, because we know we’ve got attackers who have the ability to score goals. So, the main thing was the defensive resolve and I feel like we got that spot on tonight.”
Making his first competitive appearance of the season, the centre-back came through the full game unscathed and is now hoping to aid a continual improvement in City’s league performances and results.
“It’s a very tough league,” the 19-year-old explained. “I haven’t had many minutes this year, but I’ve been watching, and I can see the level it’s at and how tough it is.
Nelson: Surreal To Play At A Premier League Ground
Ronny Nelson speaks to LCFC TV following a goalless draw at Selhurst Park as Leicester City's Development Squad pick up a point in Premier League 2 Division 1.
“I was hoping to play 90 and I managed to pull through. I was feeling it a little bit but it’s all good. As soon as it hit 70 minutes I felt it, but through stretching and just not going up for corners and resting, I could do the defensive work, that’s the aim.”
Valencia Under-21s are up next in the Premier League International Cup this Wednesday evening, as Leicester welcome the Spanish outfit to LCFC Training Ground for a 7pm kick-off. A final fixture before pausing for the FIFA World Cup, it is an opportunity for Nelson to increase his match sharpness.
“I’m really looking forward to Wednesday,” he added. “Hopefully we can get a good result, the team wins and I can play and get more minutes under my belt.”
