Foxes Face Everton Women On Sunday
Ahead of the Toffees' arrival to Filbert Way, here is a detailed look at both camp's prior to this weekend's WSL fixture...
The Foxes camp
Last weekend, the Foxes travelled to Leigh Sports Village to face off against league leaders Manchester United. Lioness Alessia Russo scored a hat-trick and assisted another as Willie Kirk's side were beaten 5-1.
One positive from the afternoon was new signing Remy Siemsen's debut goal for the Club. Arriving from Australia in the January transfer window, the No.19 had to wait two months for her first appearance but a 48th minute strike gave the Leicester faithful something to celebrate.
However, the defeat came in the midst of a good run of form which has seen City win three games in all competitions this calendar year. It's form which Kirk will want a return to, with a win potentially seeing the Foxes lift themselves off bottom spot in the league.
The opposition
This weekend's opponents are sat sixth with an equal number of wins and draws in this 2022/23 WSL campaign. Most recently, the Toffees were beaten by Aston Villa 2-0 at Walton Hall Park.
Towards the start of the season, Everton beat Liverpool 3-0 in the Merseyside derby as Megan Finnigan, Jessica Park and Hanna Bennison all scored at Anfield.
Park, who has five goal involvements, is the top goalscorer for Everton so far this season but without a goal in four appearances, the 21-year-old will be keen to get herself back on the scoresheet.
In the dugout
Brian Sørensen resides in the dugout for Everton and is currently playing out his first season in England's top division, having joined the club in June of last year.
In his home country of Denmark, Sørensen spent seven years over two stints with DBK Fortuna Hijørring where he won the league title on two occasions in 2014 and 2016.
Last season he led the Danish side to qualification for the UEFA Women's Champions League, which in turn earned the 42-year-old a two-and-a-half-year contract with Everton, replacing caretaker Chris Roberts who took the reigns following the dismissal of Jean-Luc Vasseur.
Last time out
Leicester have failed to beat Everton in any of their last four meetings, which have included three in the league, however each match, except one, has been decided by one goal.
Earlier on this season, the Foxes were beaten 1-0 by the Merseyside outfit, when 'keeper Kirstie Levell was forced to turn a late free-kick into her own net in the dying stages at Walton Hall Park.
A late goal also decided last year's WSL fixture at Pirelli Stadium when Simone Magill, now at Aston Villa, scored in the 81st minute in late November 2021.
