The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, capped 14 times for Ghana despite his age, joined the Club on Thursday on a season-long loan from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. He will wear the No.18 shirt with the Foxes.
Following the arrival of Yunus Akgün, Enzo Maresca is adding attacking reinforcements to his Sky Bet Championship table-topping squad to boost their bid for promotion.
Fatawu, being interviewed at Seagrave after agreeing terms with the Club, spoke with pride and excitement, explaining why he’s looking forward to getting started in the East Midlands.
Asked about his prospective debut for Leicester City, he replied: “This is what I can’t wait for, this moment. This will be the best moment for me in my career.”
Working with Maresca is one of the key reasons Fatawu decided Leicester was the place for him in 2023/24 – and he outlined how the Italian can help with his development this season.
“I’m so happy,” Fatawu added. “This is an amazing moment for me, I’m happy to be here. For me, from the look of Leicester and how I felt about the coach, here was the best for me.
“This was the best moment for me to join Leicester. I chose them because I think they can grow me and help me mature. [Maresca] told me about the plans he has for me and how he wants me to play – how he wants to help me in my football.
“He’s ready to guide me. That’s why I chose here. I still have more to learn. That’s the most important thing for me. It’s good for me to be here. The coach told me how he wants to guide me so I’m happy to be there.”
