The 20-year-old striker made the move to King Power Stadium having spent the majority of his young career with Everton. His aims and ambitions align with those of the Club and hopes to be able to help fire City straight back to the Premier League.
Although a difficult decision to leave Merseyside, having come through the ranks at the Toffees, he had no reservations about joining the Foxes, especially after taking a tour of Seagrave and speaking to people around the building.
“It feels amazing to be fair,” the forward began, speaking in his first interview since signing on the dotted line. “It’s been a long day but it’s well worth the wait and I just can’t wait to get started. I was just looking forward to getting it over the line and it’s all been sorted now so I’m glad.
The 20-year-old spent part of 2022/23 at Preston North End.
“I’d been at the club (Everton) since the age of 10, so I met friends for life and the staff all saw me grow up. But when a club like Leicester come calling, it’s hard to say no. Having a look around the training ground so far, the facilities are unbelievable, and just the size of the Club, it’s a massive club.
“Everyone knows where the Club belongs – that’s in the Premier League. I’m sure that’s the aim this season, just to get back to the top and then take it from there. Even from walking around the building today, you can just smell it. It’s on everyone’s mind and everyone’s aim. It’s one I’m now involved in and I’m looking forward to it.”
Cannon, who scored eight goals in 20 games on loan at Preston North End during the second half of last term, also gave insight into the type of player that the Blue Army can expect to see on the pitch. That experience in the Sky Bet Championship can only assist in making it a smooth transition, he believes.
I’m just champing at the bit to get involved and learn from him (Enzo Maresca). I’m very excited.

The Republic of Ireland youth international explained: “Playing on the shoulder, running in behind, that’s what they can expect, that’s my game. Hopefully hitting the back of the net, too, which I’m sure I can do. I back myself in front of goal so given the opportunity, I’ll do the rest.
“I’ve got both parts of my game to be fair. Obviously, there’s things to improve, I’m not the perfect player but I can do both so depending on the game and how the game’s going I can come to feet and link the play, or I can also run in behind and stretch the pitch.
“I haven’t played much this season but from being on loan last season and gaining that experience at this level, to then take it into the next chapter in my career, it’s something I’ll take with me.”
After a positive start to the season under Enzo Maresca, with a 100 per cent record still intact, the attacker cannot wait to start working with the new Manager. Knowing the likes of former Everton defender Conor Coady, settling in well should not be an issue.
A look around his new home.
“It just shows the dominance of Leicester and how big the Club is,” Cannon admitted. “Obviously, credit to the Manager, he’s come in with a good style of play and the lads have taken to it, so I’m just champing at the bit to get involved and learn from him.
“I’m very excited. The players and staff speak very highly of him. He’s half known for his Manchester City days in the academy. I’m sure once I get chance to speak to him, I’m only going to improve.
“I know Conor and I’ve spoken to him before. He had nothing but praise for the place and the staff. Even speaking to him today, he loves it here and saying how much I will love it here, so from what Conor said, I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone else.
“Even before I was here, speaking to him, he was saying the facilities are the best I’ll ever see, so it’s all good. I can’t wait to play in front of them (the fans) for the first time. I know that feeling when I score my first goal is going to be a special moment, so I’m looking forward to that and I’m sure they will be too.”
