St Margaret’s Pastures Partnership Launched

Leicester City in the Community and Leicester City Hockey Club have agreed to a day of community activities to benefit those living in the surrounding areas.

- Leicester City’s charity have struck a partnership with Leicester City Hockey Club
- This will see a ‘Community Day’ each week, whereby multiple Leicester City in the Community session groups can access the St Margaret’s Pastures sports centre
- A number of session participants took part in a celebration event to formally launch the partnership at the city centre-based venue
- The partnership was highlighted during the EFL Week of Action

To commemorate an exciting new partnership, participants from three different Leicester City in the Community sessions came together in the city centre.

Street Soccer Academy, SoundCafe and Walking Football sessions took part in their weekly sessions together, celebrating all who take part in the St Margaret’s artificial facility.

The new partnership will see adults, young people and children utilising the St Margaret’s Pastures sports facility every week during a dedicated ‘Community Day’.

Matt Bray, Leicester City in the Community's Senior Community Manager said: “We are here to launch our partnership with Leicester City Hockey Club. It is an agreement we have had planning for a while.

“It is all about opening St Margaret’s Pastures up to get as many community groups here as possible. Being on the doorstep of Abbey Park, there are lots of communities around here, so we wanted to open this up to get as many people using this fantastic site as possible.”

After originally taking place during the EFL Week of Action, the Community Day will be held each Thursday and will benefit adults during the day and young people following the end of a school – with further plans to get schools utilising the site.

The EFL Week of Action saw all 72 EFL Club community organisations showcase the positive work that they do in their communities.

Leicester City’s charitable arm used the week to profile the impending release of their revised Community Strategy
