An Important Three Points, Says Justin
- Leicester City beat Cardiff City 2-0 on Friday evening
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and James Justin scored at Cardiff City Stadium
- City sit eight points clear at the top of the Sky Bet Championship
- Enzo Maresca’s Foxes meet Huddersfield Town on New Years Day at King Power Stadium
Eight points clear at the top of the Sky Bet Championship and 20 wins already this season will sit well with the Foxes faithful, who travelled in their numbers once again for a 2-0 victory at Cardiff City Stadium.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall opened the scoring early on in south Wales before Justin scored a fantastic effort to double their advantage in front of the away section in the second half, and the defender was delighted to get on the scoresheet, deeming the win to be the most valuable asset.
“It was an important three points, and that’s the most important thing,” Justin stated. “Everyone in the squad has to contribute, and it was nice to get a goal myself – not a bad strike either.

Making it 2-0 at Cardiff City Stadium.
“I’ve just seen the ball coming back, I think Abdul [Fatawu] was trying to pick out Winksy (Harry Winks) but it just missed him and I thought, this is my time. Luckily it came down, and it didn’t just balloon in the air.
“It was amazing. To be fair, when I scored, I forgot where the fans were so I had to take a couple of seconds to gather my thoughts and celebrate, but they’ve travelled amazingly again today and we’ll need them for the rest of the season.”
Justin’s goal against Bluebirds will be one for the scrap book, but the English full-back believes his 2021 strike against Stoke City in the FA Cup still tops his list, with this being a close second.
He went on to talk about the momentum after the second goal in the game, and how it spurred Leicester to get across the finish line and round off the year in impressive fashion.
I felt like we needed that extra goal to win the game.

“I wouldn’t say it was the best,” he continued. “I still like my goal in the FA Cup against Stoke City, but it probably comes in second. To get that extra goal and pick up the points is obviously a nice feeling.
“Any team can score a goal, all it takes is one mistake, and we do play on the edge but it’s working so far so we’ll stick with it and keep working with it. I felt like we needed that extra goal to win the game.”
Six wins out of seven in December, and without a loss this month, City are back home on 1 January when Huddersfield make the trip to King Power Stadium for a 3pm GMT kick-off.

Currently one space above the relegation zone, Justin understands the challenge that awaits and is hoping the fans will continue to show their remarkable support on home soil, as he explains how important it is to have their backing.
“You want to play every match,” the No.2 explained. “It doesn’t matter whether that’s one or two days between, so you’re disappointed when you’re left out, but I know there’s players that are doing the job just as well as me and sometimes you need to step back and look at the bigger picture.
“It will be really nice to get in front of our crowd and start off 2024 in the best way, by getting three points.”
