‘A Very Important Win’ – Daka’s Take On Stoke Success
- Leicester City beat Stoke City 5-0 in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday
- Patson Daka and Jamie Vardy scored braces in the rout at bet365 Stadium
- The Zambia forward believes the team’s hard work in paying off
- That result sees the Foxes sit 11 points ahead of second place
The Zambia international opened the scoring at bet365 Stadium, before adding another in the second half, with Kasey McAteer and Jamie Vardy also among the goals during a dominant performance in the Potteries.
“It’s a very important win today,” the forward commented post-match. “We came for nothing but three points. At this point, I think we just have to do everything that we can to make sure that we get maximum points from each and every game that we play.
Fantastic Foxes Hit Five At Stoke
Take in all the goals from Leicester City's excellent 5-0 win at Stoke City!
“Every game is different and every game has got its own challenges. Each game that we play, we try to go in with a different mindset, depending on the game and the opponents that we are playing.
“It may look easy, but it's not. We try to make it easy. To be honest, it's something that we are constantly doing in training. We put in a lot of work each and every day, and I'm glad that it's paying off every day.”
Daka’s second goal came from the spot, before substitute Vardy also netted a penalty in the closing stages. Stephy Mavididi was the man to convert from 12 yards against Swansea City last week, meanwhile, as the team continue to find the net regularly.
City’s No.20 explained: “Of course, when Jamie Vardy is in there, he is the first penalty taker and the rest of us share, but honestly, everyone is confident enough to take the penalties. And, as you can see, everyone who steps up is scoring, which is important for the team.
Daka Delighted With Stoke Success
Patson Daka spoke following his two goals which helped Leicester City claim victory away to Stoke City.
“At the end of the day, we all want the same thing. We share the same goal, which is helping the team, and you can see it happening.”
Leicester haven’t won by that big of a margin since defeating Southampton 9-0 in 2019, to move 11 points clear at the top of the table. The job is far from done, however, as far as Daka is concerned.
He added: “Hopefully it won't be the biggest win of the season, but we can go even more for the remaining games. We'll see what happens. He (Enzo Maresca) needs to speak each and every day and every game that we play because we are human beings.
“We constantly need a reminder, he needs to make sure that we are not comfortable and he keeps on pushing us and reminding us that the journey is still long. We need to keep our heads down and continue working each and every day.”
