The young Foxes triumphed for the first time in five Premier League 2 matches courtesy of a Ewing brace inside seven minutes, which was followed by Logan Briggs’ late third, to secure three points at LCFC Training Ground.

“I’m buzzing with that,” the midfielder expressed following full-time in Seagrave. “It was a great start for the team, getting two goals in after seven minutes and then I think we just built off that.

Foxes Sweep Stoke Aside In PL2

An excellent night for the young Foxes at LCFC Training Ground, beating Stoke City in Premier League 2.

“Especially in the first 30, I thought we were excellent. We drifted off a bit towards the end of the first half, but it was a pretty composed performance. Just to get three points, it was a really solid performance and a good day.”

Will Alves assisted both of the opening two goals, while Silko Thomas was also a dangerous attacking outlet for the hosts, with Ewing able to make runs into the box to great effect early in the game.

The 21-year-old continued: “Will [Alves] and Silko [Thomas] were linking up really well to begin with just off the left, so I figured that they are going to go to the byline because they quite like to go on the outside. It would be on for the cutback and that’s how it played out.

“The first one, I could see Will and I delayed my run and then it’s just come back to me and I’ve managed to stab it in. The second one deflected and fell quite nicely for me and I’ve just slotted it in the bottom right corner.

'A Composed Display'

Thoughts from Oliver Ewing after his two goals helped City's Development Squad to victory over Stoke City.

“Even though we did score two goals, regardless of that I think we did control the game quite well. We stuck to the game plan; it played out quite nicely. Overall, we were just really happy with the performance and the goals came with that. I think it summed up the game quite nicely; we deserved it.”

One final fixture remains in the PL2 campaign, away to West Ham United next Friday (7pm BST kick-off), an opportunity to finish on a high. As for Ewing, who has missed most of the season through injury and played just nine league matches, another positive contribution would be welcomed.

“We’re pretty pleased,” the Wales Under-21s international stated. “As a team, I think some of the results have not gone our way sometimes. As an individual, it’s nice to finish the season with a few goals and can hopefully continue that next week.

“You need to look at it as a whole. We’ll go through it with the coaches because after the final game we’ve got a few weeks of training so there will be time to reflect on the season. We’ll have a nice break and then go again next season.”
