Australia Awaits For City’s Women

Next week will see LCFC Women jet off to Australia for two weeks to take part in the inaugural Perth International Football Cup.

- The Foxes will face off against Manchester City on Wednesday 28 August (11:15am kick-off)
- Leicester will then face either West Ham United or Paris Saint-Germain in the second fixture

It feels like a prolonged break since the Women’s team were last in competitive action, confirming safety with a 10th-placed finish last term in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

After a summer of change, which included Amandine Miquel taking the helm, and five new additions to the squad, including the permanent return of promising full-back of Asmita Ale, the squad are ready to fly off to Australia for what will be their first ever pre-season tour.

In preparation to this, City took part in a behind closed doors friendly against Sunderland at Belvoir Drive. The visitors took the lead but goals from Jutta Rantala, Noémie Mouchon and Yuka Momiki rounded off the comeback and victory in Leicestershire.

Next week, the group of players and staff will make their way long-haul across the world, before regrouping by Wednesday afternoon on Australian soil.

With a week to settle in, continue their pre-season preparations and take part in plenty of commercial activities while providing the chance to see a different continent, make sure to stay tuned to LCFC Women’s social media channels to stay up to date with the squad’s whereabouts.

Their first fixture in the Perth International Football Cup sees them take on fellow WSL side Manchester City on Wednesday 28 August (11:15am kick-off) at HBF Park, while West Ham United will face Paris Saint-Germain, who finished second in the Division 1 Féminine last season.

Australia will provide the perfect opportunity for Amandine Miquel to prepare for the WSL campaign.

Once again, LCFC Women's social media channels will house exclusive content of the match, with X providing live updates throughout the day.

Depending on each game’s result, a second game will be played between the winners while the remaining two sides take part in a third-place play-off; both matches will take place at HBF Park on Sunday 1 September.

Following this, Leicester will head back home to the comforts of Belvoir Drive, where they will continue to train and prepare for the opening day of the WSL season, taking on Liverpool, away from home, on Sunday 22 September with a 2pm kick-off.

All times BST.
