Shana Chossenotte

‘I Can Relate To The Project’ – Chossenotte Shares City’s WSL Ambition

The Foxes have bolstered their ranks with a young and hungry winger who is striving to make her mark after a dream move to England.

Talented attacker Shana Chossenotte becomes the second French player to join LCFC Women from Stade De Reims, following in the footsteps of striker Noémie Mouchon and new Manager Amandine Miquel.

Upon signing for the Club for an undisclosed fee, she spoke about the incredible opportunity it gives her and looks forward to playing in the Barclays Women’s Super League, which, in her words, is one of the best in the women’s game.

“I am very happy to have signed for Leicester,” Chossenotte announced. “I can’t wait to get started on the pitch with the team. It’s quite surreal, because I agreed to sign for the Club yesterday morning and less than 24 hours later, I’m already here [at Belvoir Drive].

Excited to get started with Leicester.

“It’s always been an aim to play in this league as it is one of the best. I’m sure it’s a dream for every professional footballer to play in this league. Leicester seemed right for me, because I can relate to their project and the work they’re doing here."

The 19-year-old arrives after forward Mouchon’s announcement in July, and she is looking forward to linking up with an old friend once more, both on and off the field of play.

Leicester’s sixth signing of the summer is also aware of Miquel’s demands, and despite attacking the WSL in the early years of her career, hopes to hit the ground running and make a difference within an ever-growing team.

The new addition added: “I think it’s a big positive that I’m joining up with Noémie [Mouchon] again. We have formed a relationship both on and off the pitch, so that will only help us and the team to perform well this season.

“I think Amandine [Miquel] being here will definitely help me to adjust and settle on and off the pitch. She knows me, I know her, so it’s easier for me. Like I’ve said, it’s always been my aim to play in England, so it’s another positive for me.”

Shana links up with fellow French forward Noémie Mouchon.

Lighting up the play whenever she is on the ball, the Foxes have gained a valuable asset on the wing, but Chossenotte believes she has plenty in her locker to assist at either end of the pitch and is now just itching to get going.

“I’m a hard-working player who likes to get forward and score goals,” the winger explained. “But I also defend for the team. I have qualities that allow me to do both.

“In France, there’s a different style of play to here in England, so that will help bring something different to my game. Playing for my country, you see many different styles of play when facing other teams, so it’s good learning for me.

“I hope to help the team defensively and offensively, to be precise with my passes and to score many goals. I can’t wait to get started.”
