It's About Developing, Says Miquel

The Perth International Football Cup is now underway for LCFC Women as Miquel's side competed with Man City in the opening fixture at Perth's HBF Park.

Despite a resolute performance against Gareth Taylor's City side, the Foxes were ultimately left empty handed following a goalless stalemate in normal time.

"I thought it was a very good game," Miquel noted. "Defensively the team did well and did what we expected them to do. Everyone did well positionally and pressed how we wanted. We had some good transitional occasions.

I felt the players gave a really good effort today.

"Today was used for us to work on our game plans. It's always sad to lose on penalties but it's a pre-season game, so the result isn't the most important thing. The most important thing is to work and develop the players' understanding.”

Predominantly in a medium block, before exploiting spaces later on, the Foxes frustrated and limited their Barclays Women's Super League counterparts to minimal chances during the 90 minutes of action.

"I felt like today, against a team that is hard to defend against, we did well and conceded very little chances," said Miquel. "We had as many as them with less possession. I felt the players gave a really good effort today.

"Our plan is to always to adapt to the opponent. I am really happy with the work from the players; the ones that started and the ones that came on. We will see who our final opponent is and then continue to make sure we're ready for the season ahead."

'We're Working On The Game Plan'

LCFC Women Manager Amandine Miquel believes there are positives to take from their loss to Manchester City in the Perth International Football Cup.

The final match-day for the Foxes in Australia will take place this Sunday, with either West Ham United or French Première Ligue side Paris Saint-Germain the opponents (7:10pm BST kick-off).

In her final remarks on matchday, Miquel commented on the importance of our support in Perth and noted her appreciation for the opportunity to introduce City to Australia.

"It was great to have some Leicester fans in Perth,” Miquel added. “This was a great opportunity for us to meet the fans. The players gave their time after the game to sign autographs. It was a great first game with the fanbase."
