Tierney: Sticking To The Process

City will take on the Hammers in the third-place play-off at HBF Park on Sunday, with the fixture kicking-off at 7:10am BST and the Foxes midfielder hopes to see her team compete at the highest level against their Barclays Women's Super League counterparts in preparation for the new season.
"Firstly, playing against two WSL teams while we're here is important as we look towards a return to the league and getting used to the teams we'll be competing against," the City player stated. "As players, we go into every game wanting to win but the manager has been very clear on this being a process.
“Results, especially in pre-season, aren’t the focus. However, we want to stamp our authority on the game and hopefully come out with the win to end this trip on a high."
While winning is a habit and the ethos behind her actions, Tierney has enjoyed the pre-season process and hopes to see a continual progression of the team’s growth under new manager Amandine Miquel.
Tierney added: "The most important thing I've taken from this trip is to remain open-minded. When Amandine came in, she wanted us all to remain open-minded on her philosophy.
“It's about sticking to the process and trusting the plan. Hopefully, week-on-week, we'll see progression and will be ready for that first game.”
Tierney, meanwhile, has already cast thought to September when the Foxes face Liverpool in the opening fixture of the 24/25 WSL Season. The 25-year-old - who is now City's longest-serving player - notes the importance of making an impression early in the new campaign: "It's important that we start the season well. We have a fantastic group and I'm really looking forward to the future."
