Briggs: We Lacked That Extra Quality
- Monday saw the Leicester City Development Squad beaten by Nottingham Forest
- Jayden Joseph scored City's only goal at LCFC Training Ground
- We need to push on and bounce back, says Logan Briggs
On the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline against Forest, it was a tough result to take for City's youngsters, as they slipped to third in Group B of the competition.
Composing himself to talk about the Foxes' loss in Seagrave, Briggs was disappointed to lose out to their Midlands rivals.
"Everyone is very frustrated," the midfielder stated. "It was deflating since it was a local derby as well - we wanted to get something out of the game. We just didn't have the quality in the end to break them down.
"That's something that we have had previously this season so everyone is a bit down in the dressing room and we just want to bounce back now when we play Chelsea on Friday.
We got the equaliser but like I said, we just didn't create enough chances to win the game.
Logan Briggs
"I think we fought well and tried to match their intensity which is good but lacked that extra quality. We had the ball a lot but didn't really create enough or break them down like we planned to do.
"It's frustrating (to concede a deflected goal), but what can you do about that? I felt like we bounced back and regrouped at half-time. We got the equaliser but like I said, we just didn't create enough chances to win the game."
One positive before kick-off saw Briggs presented with the Premier League Scholar of the Year award, for his positive season on and off the field last campaign, which he believes helped give him confidence ahead of the current term.
Also involved in the First Team's summer trip to Évian-les-Bains, the youngster is still on a high, but continues to look forward rather than back, and wants an immediate response when the Development Squad take on Chelsea in Premier League 2 action Friday evening (7pm BST kick-off).
Everyone Is Very Frustrated, Says Briggs
Development Squad midfielder Logan Briggs assesses Monday night's narrow reverse in the Premier League Cup.
"It's been a good run of games for me now which is good," Briggs continued. "I just want to keep going and getting minutes to see where I am at the end of the season.
"I won Scholar of the Year for the Under-18s, which was nice to look back on a good season last year but I'm trying to focus on this season now. I had a lot of confidence heading into this season.
"I went away to France with the First Team for pre-season which was good and gave me a lot of confidence. I've just got to keep pushing and now we've got Chelsea on Friday before Northampton after that.
"We've got to push on now, keep going and push on from this result."
