Late Strike Earns U21s A Draw With Coventry

Josh King's injury-time equaliser ensured a point for Leicester City's Development Squad in the Premier League Cup on Friday evening.

Coming from behind twice at Your Co-op Community Stadium, it was Harvey Godsmark-Ford and Josh King who scored Leicester's goals in a 2-2 draw with Coventry City in Group B of the competition.

Pressing pause on PL2 action, which last saw them beat Aston Villa 3-1 at LCFC Training Ground, the young Foxes have featured in consecutive cup games; first losing out to Northampton Town on Tuesday evening in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy before Friday's meeting with the Sky Blues.

Harvey Godsmark-Ford was the other Leicester goalscorer against Coventry.

With just one win in their last four, City fell behind in Warwickshire 20 minutes in when Charlie Finney opened the scoring for the hosts, but Godsmark-Ford, assisted by Louis Page, who was called up to the England Under-17s squad earlier in the day, got the scores back level before the break.

Following the restart, it was Coventry who edged in front once more, this time via an Aidan Dausch spot-kick on 50 minutes. With the game all but over, Leicester's resilience paid off when King came up trumps in the final moments, scoring his third of this term for the Under-21s to salvage what could be an important draw in the group stage.

The point keeps the Foxes second in Group B with four points; two behind leaders Nottingham Forest and above Friday's opponents on goal difference alone.

But before then, Leicester return to EFL Trophy action for an all-important game against Notts County on Tuesday evening (7pm kick-off) at Meadow Lane, where nothing less than a win, and favourable results elsewhere, will confirm a spot in the knockout stages for the Academy outfit.
