Previewing Leicester's League Cup Trip To Brighton
For the second time in four weeks, the Foxes make the trip to Crawley where they'll go head-to-head with the Seagulls in the second fixture of Group D with a 2pm GMT kick-off this weekend...
The Foxes camp
Ruby Mace
Ruby Mace received an England call-up this week.
City will be hoping that the break away from Barclays Women's Super League action, following back-to-back defeats since their 1-0 win over Everton, will allow them to regain their early season form and add to their points tally in the group stage.
Drawing 1-1 with Bristol City earlier on in the campaign, in which Shana Chossenotte scored her maiden goal for the Club in Burton, Leicester sit third with one point heading into Sunday's game against fellow WSL opponents.
Amandine Miquel's side will be travelling down with a Lioness, after midfielder Ruby Mace received the call-up from senior England Manager Sarina Wiegman, making her the first ever LCFC Women player to do so.
The opposition
Fran Kirby
Netting a late winner against the Hammers.
Brighton are in red hot form, in both the league and cup competition, going into the game having lost just twice in nine games so far this season, most recently seeing victory over West Ham United in the WSL last weekend; Fran Kirby scoring a late winner.
Along with Nikita Parris and Kiko Seike, the trio have 14 goal involvements between them and will be a constant threat to the Foxes backline, should they feature. Top of the group after their 3-0 win over Birmingham City, the south coast outfit will be tough test for Miquel's team.
In the dugout
Dario Vidosic
Dario Vidošić arrived from Australia this summer.
New Manager Dario Vidošić is quickly becoming a fan favourite around Brighton, with five wins already this season - the same amount as the Seagulls managed throughout the entire 2023/24 season.
With former coaching experience at Melbourne City, the Australian will face off against Miquel once more this weekend, as the 37-year-old's attacking style of play will put Leicester's defensive resilience to the test.
Last time out
Chantelle Swaby
Nikita Parris scored the only goal last time out.
As mentioned earlier, the two sides are meeting at Broadfield Stadium for the second time this month, having already faced off in WSL action when Parris' first half goal made the difference.
In seven fixtures between the two sides, each team has one three, with Leicester's last win in Crawley coming on the final day of the 2022/23 season thanks to a late effort from Ava Baker.
