Leicester City new boy Harry Maguire says he’s delighted to join a club with such an exciting future following his arrival from Hull City.
The 24-year-old centre back made the switch to King Power Stadium for an undisclosed fee on Thursday, signing a five-year deal in the process.
Maguire spoke of his desire to join the Foxes following their rapid rise over the past few years and believes the Club is set for a promising upcoming season.
“It’s obviously a very exciting time for myself,” Maguire told LCFC TV. “Once I had my eyes on this club, I always wanted to join. Thankfully I’m here so I can’t wait to get the season started and kick on.
“There were a number of clubs interested, but when I met the manager here, he pretty much swayed it into the direction of this club. He showed me the way that the Club is going. It’s on the up and it looks very promising for the future, so credit to the gaffer.
Harry Maguire speaks to LCFC TV after completing his transfer to Leicester City.
“You can see that with the structure of the Club, it’s going to look upwards rather than down so that was a big reason why, as soon as I knew there was an interest, I wanted to jump at the opportunity.”
Maguire played at King Power Stadium for Hull in March and is now looking forward to donning a Leicester shirt on Filbert Way during the upcoming season.
He added: “The stadium is really nice. It’s quite a new stadium and the atmosphere is always great every time you go there.
“You know as an away team, you’re going to get a tough game. I played here earlier in the year with Hull. I know that when I play there for the home team, I’m sure the atmosphere will be great to play in front of.”

Following a productive Premier League campaign for the Tigers, Maguire is now eyeing further action in England’s top flight and believes working alongside experienced defenders Robert Huth and Wes Morgan will be of great value to him.
Maguire continued: “Playing nearly every game in the Premier League for Hull has definitely helped me – I know that I can play at that level. Staying in the Premier League was a big priority because last year I felt I proved myself.
“Hopefully as a team with Leicester, we can kick on and push on to get into the top half, which is what we’re aiming for.
“I’ve been fortunate throughout my career to have learnt from some good, solid and experienced professionals and coming to the Club was another reason.
“I looked at Wes [Morgan] and obviously [Robert] Huth, who have been here for a number of years. They won the title here and they’ve been there and done it in the Premier League day in, day out.
Maguire played 33 times in all competitions for Hull in 2015/16, as they gained promotion to the Premier League.
“With my experience in the Premier League, overall I set my sights on defending, but I can play with the ball at my feet and I’m comfortable doing so, so hopefully I can show the fans that.”
The Foxes have had to show their togetherness in the Premier League on countless occasions and Maguire is now eager to meet his team-mates when he reports to the Club for pre-season testing in early July.
“As I’ve seen over the last couple of years, there seems to be a great spirit here,” added the Sheffield-born defender.
“They’re a great bunch of lads, so I’m looking forward to meeting them, playing with them and enjoying this journey with them.”
