Amartey’s Ghana Through To AFCON Quarter-Finals

Daniel Amartey helped Ghana qualify for the last-eight of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations with a 1-0 victory over Mali on Saturday evening.
Leicester City’s No.13 played the full 90 minutes in a central defensive role to see the Black Stars through to the quarter-finals with a game to spare.
The only goal of the game came from former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan, who fired in in the first half to hand his nation their second successive 1-0 win following the
Amartey’s men round off their Group D campaign with an encounter against seven-time AFCON winners Egypt on Wednesday 25 January.
Meanwhile, both Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani will hope to be involved in Algeria’s Group B finale with leaders Senegal on Monday.
The Desert Foxes must record a win to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals, having drawn before losing in their last outing.
