Fuchs’ Praise For City Shutouts
- The Foxes registered their fifth clean sheet of the campaign following the goalless draw with Southampton
- Fuchs believes City showed a great team ethic during Sunday’s clash at King Power Stadium
Following Sunday’s goalless draw with Southampton, Leicester City defender Christian Fuchs says his side can be proud of their increasing number of clean sheets.
In all competitions, the Foxes have now recorded five shutouts in 10 games, with those coming against Arsenal, Club Brugge, Burnley, FC Porto and most recently Southampton.
For Fuchs, that is proof of his side’s willingness to defend as a unit and work as a team in order to grind out results, and that certainly showed against the Saints.
“It was a tough game for us,” Fuchs told LCFC TV. “Southampton are good and in possession they keep the ball moving well.
"But we kept defending. It’s our fifth clean sheet in 10 games so I’m proud of that.
“We had a chance to get on the scoresheet and we didn’t, but it was a great team effort and we’ll take this one point.
“Southampton had the ball more often than us but that’s us. We’re always good for a goal on the counter attack, sitting back waiting for them.”
Fuchs also had some kind words for the Club’s supporters, who according to the defender have a huge impact on City’s performances on the pitch.
The left back added: “It was a pretty tough game to be honest but we gave our best in front of this amazing crowd.
“For the opposing team, every team that comes here knows that they’re not only playing against the team on the pitch. They’re playing against this amazing 12th man.
“They have a feeling and know when we need them. They give us an extra push and this was the case today.”
