Youngster Watson Joins Northampton On Loan

Development Squad midfielder Ryan Watson has agreed a loan deal with Sky Bet League 2 side Northampton Town until the start of January, 2015.
The 21-year-old former Wigan youngster joined the Foxes’ ranks last season and last month made his first team debut as a central midfield starter in the Capital One Cup Second Round against Shrewsbury Town.

He joins a Cobblers side sitting comfortably on the brink of the play-off positions with two wins and two draws from their opening five games, having successfully avoided relegation last term.

The club continue to improve under manager Chris Wilder, who joined in January this year to help steer them to safety, and with Watson providing a welcome boost to their central midfield options, they will be confident heading into the weekend’s games.

Next up for the Cobblers is a trip to Dagenham & Redbridge before another away day at Newport County – both of which Watson will be available to play a part.

The City youngster has forged impressive midfield partnerships with both Michael Cain and Jak McCourt for the Foxes, and finished last season as one of the side’s form players – weighing in with some timely goals and assists as part of some all-action displays.
