It was a night to remember for two Leicester City midfielders on Tuesday, as Danny Drinkwater made his debut for England, while N’Golo Kanté scored his first goal for France.

Drinkwater started and played 85 minutes against the Netherlands at Wembley Stadium, where fellow Fox Jamie Vardy scored his second consecutive goal for the Three Lions - his first strike at Wembley Stadium.

Vardy converted Kyle Walker’s cross from close range on 41 minutes – England’s 100th goal under the stewardship of Roy Hodgson – before Vincent Janssen equalised from the spot for the visitors.

And while Luciano Narsingh’s strike 12 minutes from time sealed a 2-1 win for the Netherlands, Drinkwater and Vardy certainly impressed for Hodgson’s men.

The fixture saw two City players start for England for the first time since May 1974, when Peter Shilton, Keith Weller and Frank Worthington all started against Argentina.

Meanwhile, Kanté celebrated his 25th birthday with a maiden goal for France, as the midfielder opened the scoring against Russia at the Stade De France after just eight minutes.

Andre-Pierre Gignac added to Kanté’s maiden strike on his first start for Didier Deschamps' men, before Dimitri Payet and Kingsley Coman wrapped up a 4-2 win.

Earlier today, striker Shinji Okazaki became the first outfield Leicester City player ever to notch up 100 caps for his nation, as he helped Japan to a convincing 5-0 2018 World Cup qualifying victory over Syria.

Okazaki, having scored against Afghanistan last time out, captained his nation and played 77 minutes in a win that saw Japan finish top of Group E without conceding a single goal in the qualifying stages.

A double from Shinji Kagawa, an own goal from Hamdi Al Massri and further strikes from Keisuke Honda and Genki Haraguchi secured Japan their seventh win from eight Group E games.

Riyad Mahrez was in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying action for Algeria, playing 90 minutes in the 3-3 draw against Ethiopia.

Goals from Islam Slimani and Aissa Mandi and a late penalty from Faouzi Ghoulam helped the Desert Foxes maintain their unbeaten record in qualifying Group J.

Left back Christian Fuchs also notched up 90 minutes for Austria, as they hosted Turkey in a friendly in Vienna.

Zlatko Junuzovic put Fuchs’ nation 1-0 up in the first period, but goals from Hakan Calhanoglu and Arda Turan saw Turkey secure a 2-1 win.

In another international friendly, City stopper Kasper Schmeichel played 45 minutes for Denmark at Hampden Park.

A strike from Bournemouth’s Matt Ritchie after just eight minutes helped Gordon Strachan’s side to a 1-0 win Glasgow.

Meanwhile, Daniel Iversen’s Denmark Under-19s beat Montenegro Under-19s 7-1 to finish second in Group 7 of the Elite Stage of qualifying for the UEFA Euro U19 Championships.

Denmark qualified for the finals of the tournament in a game which saw Iversen unused from the bench.

City’s next potential international involvement could see Harry Panayiotou in action for St. Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday, while Wes Morgan’s Jamaica face Costa Rica in San Jose.
