Morgan: Foxes Looking Up
- Wes Morgan says Leicester City must be ambitious during the 2017/18 season
- The Foxes officially open the Premier League campaign at Arsenal on Friday night
- City's captain reveals he has been delighted by the additions made this summer
- Harry Maguire will be a key figure for Craig Shakespeare in defence, Morgan says
The Foxes begin their fourth consecutive campaign in the top flight with a challenging clash at Arsenal on Friday evening but Craig Shakespeare’s men go into the encounter with proven acumen at this level.
Speaking to LCFC TV in the week, Morgan said: “I think we can just go out there and do as best as we can. Last season was a bit different to the season before that when we won the Premier League.
“We were in the bottom half for most of the season so this season we don’t want to be there again. We want to be looking up rather than down.
“We’ll play each game, pick up points and see where we can go.”
Morgan Looks Ahead To Arsenal Clash
Foxes skipper Wes Morgan sat down with LCFC TV to reflect on City's pre-season campaign as they prepare for their opening Premier League fixture against Arsenal on Friday.
The 33-year-old has a new colleague at the heart of City’s defence; centre back Harry Maguire, formerly of Sheffield United and Hull City.
Maguire has settled quickly and scored his maiden goal for the Club in a 2-1 pre-season reverse at Burton Albion earlier this summer.
“Looking at him at Hull, I always thought he was a good player, but he’s come across and he’s much better than I actually thought he was,” Morgan added.

Morgan passes the ball out of defence while in action against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“When you play with someone, you learn to see how good they are.
“He’s a young lad and he’s got a bright future ahead so I’ve been very impressed so far and there’s a lot more to come.”
On the new signings more generally, Morgan says he is delighted by the figures Shakespeare has added to the Foxes’ ranks.
As well as Maguire, Eldin Jakupović, Vicente Iborra and Kelechi Iheanacho have arrived at King Power Stadium this summer.
We’ve signed a ‘keeper, defender, midfielder and striker so we’ve recruited in all the key positions and they’ve looked good so far.

“They’ve come in and they’ve all looked good,” Morgan concluded.

“I’ve been in with Harry the longest and he’s really impressed me so I look forward to see what he can do come the start of the season.”
