Beaglehole: Game Plan Worked Well
- Steve Beaglehole reflected on another impressive display from the Leicester City Under-23s
- George Thomas struck twice at Holmes Park to secure City's third win of the season
- Beaglehole was pleased to see his game plan work out at Holmes Park
- The Development Squad coach also praised another fine performance from Thomas
In front of a lively Holmes Park crowd, the Foxes were brilliant for 90 minutes to defeat one of the favourites to lift the Premier League 2 title.
George Thomas, who joined the Club from Coventry City this summer, scored two goals, including a wonderful second from distance, to confirm the result in Whetstone.
“We had a game plan to stop them playing,” Beaglehole explained to LCFC TV at full-time.
“They are a good side. We worked extremely hard to stop them from playing out from the back.
“They maybe played longer because of that and that suited us with a strong back four we’ve got. We wanted to keep a clean sheet against a side with creative players.”
Beaglehole was especially pleased with the performance of Thomas, whose contribution ultimately proved to be the difference.
“I thought the two real bits of quality were the two goals from George,” he added. “His first touch for the second goal was brilliant, and his first was terrific as well.
“He is a player who has been bought for his development and, if he can continue playing like that, it would be great to see him get closer and closer to the first team.”
