- Despite being new to the squad, Thomas says he is loving life with the Foxes
The 20-year-old midfielder joined the Club with a reputation for his abilities in front of goal and, so far, he has lived up to that billing with a string of fine displays in Premier League 2.
“I’m happy to get the two goals and help the team get the win,” he told LCFC TV at full-time. “Everyone is delighted in the changing room because Chelsea are good opposition.
“We’re going well in the table so to get the three points tonight was very important.
Thomas Delighted With Brace
George Thomas spoke to LCFC TV after getting his name on the scoresheet during City's 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Holmes Park.
“It was always the plan to hit the ground running. I’m a midfield player who likes to get goals to my name so it’s good I’ve been able to do that straight away.
“Playing with the senior pros really does help and it gives you motivation to make the step up as well. It’s always a good experience. It makes you a better player for it.”
Thomas grew up in Leicestershire and so already knew Holmes Park well, but he admits it was great to see so many from the Blue Army show up to support the Under-23s on Friday night.
“I’ve come here before in the years gone by, watching friends in the County Cup final,” he added. “To play here tonight, it’s a really good pitch and one that we proved we can play on.
“I’m really enjoying it. There’s a great atmosphere around the Club. Training and playing with the boys, it’s all good fun.”
