Puel: A Crucial Game
- Claude Puel wants Leicester City to show a good attitude when Huddersfield Town visit King Power Stadium on New Year’s Day
- The Foxes will be aiming to record their first win since mid-December
- City drew 1-1 at Huddersfield back in September, with Jamie Vardy on target at John Smith’s Stadium
Just 48 hours after facing Liverpool at Anfield, the Foxes welcome Huddersfield Town to King Power Stadium on New Year’s Day in the hope of registering their first win in six outings.
While frustrated with results, Puel has been pleased with his side’s performances. He believes a spirited display against the Terriers will yield three points on Monday.
“It’s a crucial game for us of course and we need to build some new momentum,” said Puel. “Of course, it’s not a good period for the results, but perhaps just against Crystal Palace, it was not enough in our play, togetherness and quality.

Claude Puel passes on instructions during Saturday's defeat to Liverpool.
“All of the other times we’ve played, we’ve given our best. We played in a short time Manchester City in the cup in 120 minutes. We made a draw against Manchester United and we played Liverpool.
“It’s difficult in a short time to play these teams and sometimes it’s possible to come back with a good result.
“Of course, it’s the same with this team. We have the feeling we can get a good result because of our fantastic spirit and good attitude.

“With a little more quality and control of the game, perhaps we can get a result. We need to continue the hard work.”
Following a hectic fixture schedule, Puel says he will assess the fitness of his players, including left back Ben Chilwell (illness), on Sunday and Monday.
“We will see in the training session tomorrow (Sunday) and on the day of the game because we need to adapt to this situation,” he added. “It’s a busy period for us.
“For example, we lost [Ben] Chilwell at the last moment. He was ill and I don’t know if he can come back for the next game. We need to adapt but all of the squad are ready for this game.”
