Maguire: Better Chances, But We’ll Take The Point
- Leicester City produced one of their best performances of the season on Saturday, according to Harry Maguire
- The Foxes had numerous opportunities to find the back of the net in the first half
- Maguire says his side were happy to settle for a draw following Ben Chilwell's red card
The Foxes went close to opening the scoring on several occasions, as Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi, Marc Albrighton, Riyad Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki were all unfortunate not to break the deadlock.
Ben Chilwell’s dismissal after the break meant Chelsea had more of the ball in the closing stages, but for Maguire, any point on the road in the Premier League is a valuable one – not least after facing the current champions at Stamford Bridge.
“In the first half, we were really good,” reflected Maguire to LCFC TV. “It was probably our best performance of the year in the first half. We created numerous chances against a big team, a big Club who sit second in the league.
Maguire's Praise For Foxes
Harry Maguire was pleased to return to Leicester with another Premier League point on the board following Saturday's draw at Chelsea.
“We knew it was going to be tough. Before the game, we would have taken a point. Coming in at half-time we should have been leading by one or two goals, if not more. In the second half, we started really well again and were probably the better team for the first 15 minutes.
“The sending off came and it changed the game. We knew we’d have our backs against the wall so to hold out for a clean sheet and a point is really pleasing.”
Maguire believes City would have been content with claiming a point at Stamford Bridge ahead of the game and while they could not find a winner, the amount of goalscoring chances created will no doubt be a pleasing factor.
When we went down to 10, we knew it would be backs against the wall. If someone offered us 0-0 at full-time, we would have jumped at it. We’re happy with that.

He added: “We had numerous attacks, we were playing out from the back nicely and I think we had more possession than them. It was a really pleasing first 45 minutes and the only disappointment was that we came in at half-time at 0-0.
“We knew it’s always tough coming to places like this. It’s tough when you play with 11 men, never mind 10.
