The 31-year-old right back will face his former Newcastle United manager, Chris Hughton, when the Foxes head to AMEX Stadium to tackle Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Leicester know three points will aid their efforts to regain seventh place in the Premier League standings, but Simpson believes that Hughton’s men will be a stern test at the weekend.

“Obviously the injury came at the wrong time during the Christmas period, it’s just the last couple of games, I felt back to my old self fitness-wise,” Simpson told LCFC TV.

Simpson Looking Forward To Brighton Test

Talking ahead of Leicester City's trip to AMEX Stadium, Danny Simpson was full of admiration for Chris Hughton's side.

“Now we’ve got a couple of months to push and I want to play every game and help the team finish as high as we can and do the best that I can.”

On the test Brighton will pose, he added: “I’m delighted for Chris, I was with him at Newcastle, he’s a top man and a great manager.

“For me there was never any doubt what he would do with Brighton so it’s nice for him to be recognised for what he’s doing and get that award.

“It’s a good job he’s doing and especially what he’s got the players doing on the pitch.”
