Plenty Of Quality In Both Teams, Says Beaglehole

The Foxes came from behind, following Anders Dreyer’s opener, with Callum Wright registering a brace in Whetstone, but Aaron Connelly struck late to seal a share of the points.
It leaves City’s youngsters in third place in Premier League 2 Division 1 and Beaglehole, the Academy’s Senior Development Phase Coach, was pleased with the performance.
“When you concede a goal so late in the game, you feel as though you’ve lost two points and the dressing room’s despondent,” he told LCFC TV.

“I felt, in the second half, we had a period when we were really dominating the game, but I always felt that we needed a third goal.
“They’re a very motivated team, they’re a team who have not been beaten in this league, they’ve won their league last season, so we knew it was going to be a test.
“I was disappointed with the equalising goal, I thought it was a soft free-kick and I think it wasn’t a free-kick if I’m honest, but then we got punished because we let their no.9, who’s the top goalscorer in this league, we gave him a one-touch finish in a danger area.
“We played well and there were some outstanding performances, but they deserved the draw because they kept at it and kept chipping away.
“It reminded me very, very much of us last season. I said that to the lads before the game, they never know when they’re beaten and all credit to them, they’ve got some good players.”
During an entertaining fixture at Holmes Park, Beaglehole was impressed by the talent on show and he said afterwards that it was a testament to Premier League 2.
“It was a very, very good Under-23s game. People knock Under-23s football, but if you saw that, that was a proper game, there was some good players in both sides,” he added.
“We obviously had Simmo [Danny Simpson] and Kingy [Andy King] who were excellent tonight, they were a great influence on the other players in the dressing room.
“I was delighted for Callum, with him being out for a long while, [he’s] a player that we invested in, [and] he got two brilliant goals, and showed what he’s about.
“[Kiernan] Dewsbury-Hall I think, at times, he’s been terrific, how he switched the play… so there were lots of plusses, I’m just disappointed that we didn’t see it out.
“At 2-1, it would have been a terrific win. Having said that, we’ve not been beaten and it’s two very good sides at this level.”
